I have always enjoyed books that fall under the category of self-help, especially those written from a deeply personal perspective. Lynch beautifully shares her journey in a relatable, culturally resonant manner. Her openness and vulnerability captivated me, prompting reflections on my own experiences and reminding me of the significance of discerning when to remain steadfast and when to courageously step forward into the unknown. As I read about her true companions who supported her journey, I found myself smiling and inspired to reconnect with my own "village." One of my favorite passages from the book that I will reference often is: "Don’t force me to be driven out, pushed out, or betrayed out. Walk out with grace, knowing that God has already prepared the next room—one with the right gatekeepers, teammates, and partners. Not just cheerleaders, but people who are equally yoked with your God-given purpose and vision. Know when to stay. Know when to leave. And know when to rise." Straight, no chaser.
Diana is bold. Diana is transformational, while she's transforming. Diana is a brilliant teacher and a brilliant student. Diana is loyal (almost to a fault). Diana is equally flawed and flawless. Diana is both destined and a destination. And somehow this masterpiece of a book magically and completely captured the essence of all that Diana is, was, and will be. This book proves to the public, what I've known since we graced the campus of the University of South Carolina almost 40 years ago: that Diana Lynch is a beast and one to be reckoned. She is a shero to dozens of women, young and old. I sincerely appreciate her vulnerability and cleverness, while being tender and tough. And just when I thought I couldn't be any more impressed with her body of work(s), turning the pages of this book proved me wrong, as with each page I learned more of her impact, her pains, her joys, her passions, and most importantly her triumphs. I'm a better person having explored this book and am even more blessed to be able to see her walk-the-walk and talk-the-talk, while she's kicking down barriers. Salute, Diana!
